Extraction and Protein Technologies

If you have a problem related to new products or process development, we can help you solve it. We have the equipment and expertise to help you develop the optimal extraction and preparation conditions for oilseeds, grains, nuts, waste streams and any other raw materials.

Extraction and Protein Technologies Program

Extrusion Technologies

Food extrusion has become a very important processing operation. Extrusion is widely used for the preparation of a variety of foodstuffs, including breakfast cereals, snack food and pasta, as well as pet food and animal and aquaculture feed, to name a few. We offer a full array of laboratory and production extruders and ancillary equipment to ensure that we are able to assist you with extrusion processing systems from concept to reality. We will analyze your unique extrusion needs and then satisfy those needs by applying the most relevant and efficient technology to help you achieve your production goal.

Fats & Oils

For our clients, we conduct extensive research for the improvement of functional, as well as nutritional, characteristics of a wide variety of oils and fats. We also conduct short courses that are known for their one-on-one interaction with some of the industry’s best technical staff.

Separation Sciences

PERDC Separation Sciences research activities are continuously evolving to fit stakeholder needs. Research and development activities include; modification of commercial membranes to make them suitable for non-aqueous applications. Research activities also include efforts in continuing the development of analytical and instrumental methods for the evaluation of membrane performance, structure and chemistry in non-aqueous systems.  Membrane based processing techniques to improve productivity, reduce energy consumption and reduce waste.  As well as application of Micellar Enhanced Ultrafiltration to waste water treatment, for food processing and chemical processing.  Other efforts focus on recovery and concentration of nutraceuticals/functional foods, phytochemicals and other minor components.
